2013 book club

It's time for my annual "books I've read this year" list! Apparently it was the year of mostly reading either newly released books that were highly acclaimed in Entertainment Weekly reviews or teen book series. I like to think they balance each other out in terms of respectability. It was also the year I decided to see what I was missing in my youth by never really reading Judy Blume books. Special thanks to the wonderful as always Ann Arbor District Library for supplying me with many of these, and my awesomely light and convenient Kindle on which I read most of the rest. Lastly, in the name of full disclosure, there are 3 or 4 of these that I have not completed all the way through as of yet. Anywho, onto my list! Did I mention I like reading...?

cramped

Just in case anyone forgot, this is what's goin on in my body these days... Not much room for the ol' stomach, lungs, etc etc. This pic is actually from the 28 week point in a pregnancy, and I just hit the big 3-0 (out of 40, if things go normalishly). Violet is at her grandparents for a few days while Mike and I get a break, and we've been having a grand time doing some cleaning and organizing so baby actually has a place to sleep and keep her clothes and such. We have been procrastinating getting things ready until now, so I just feel realllly unprepared here. Last time around I could basically spend all my free time preparing for lil Violet, and now I spend my free time keeping a three year old alive... so trying to remember where we stashed away all the old baby stuff in addition to getting our little place reorganized has been put on the back burner. All that to say, I've got a cramped tummy and we are scrambling and I am still working of course and still parenting of course so life is overwhelming. The end.

Cute Violet pix tomorrow!

merry christmas!

Merry Christmas from the four of us!

so much Christmas

Merry Christmas Eve! I thought I'd do a sort of double post since I've just got so many Christmas-y things to blog about. Violet's Christmas pageant went so well and was just too cute. Just look at her with her black velour dress and her festive red tights that are all baggy around the ankles. :)

Sometimes she does this when we ask her to pose for the camera. She apparently has an interesting take on the word "pose".

Now... onto the show!

She twinkled those fingers like a pro!

The whole little mini-choir.

She was all "I got this, class helper. Step aside." ...at least that's what I assume she was thinking.

We were so so proud of our adorable little star! Here's a clip of the rehearsal and then the performance. The very end has such a sweet little moment when Violet was so happy to see us when she exits the stage :) *heart melting*

Post-show, they attempted to get a good group pic of the 3 & 4 year olds. Lol.

My parents and brother were in the choir in the big Northridge Church Christmas show "Glory of Christmas", which of course is always pretty crazy in terms of spectacle. If you need more convincing, keep scrolling.

If you know my fam, you'll see them scattered throughout this pic!

Obviously there were pyrotechnics.

And ice skating.

And flying.

And they had to include one of those famous Israeli alpacas.

Byeee Jesus!

The show was incredible as usual. Definitely worth checking out next year if you haven't seen it! (Although, I have to say that my favorite of the two was Violet's little show.)

my name is karen

and here you will find things that i make and see.
