national man of mystery

The mystery! His lazy eye! The frumpled clothes! "Just one more thing"! Call me a dork, but I love Columbo... the show and the man.

happy bday to youuu

Happy Birthday to the lovely Ciara! Just the fact that all of these photos were taken in the past few days really says something about how much I enjoy our friendship!

koreans know how to karaoke

I LOVE KARAOKE. So you can imagine my sheer delight when, while I was in Westerville playing the Ignite conference, I somehow convinced my band to check out this random place I found online that supposedly was a karaoke bar.

It was a Tuesday night around midnight and we walked into what appeared to be a (not only empty but dead silent) Korean restaurant. When we asked about karaoke, they flipped a switch and some TV screens then said "NIGHTCLUB" and some electronic-y versions of pop songs started playing.

Turns out the song list book was mostly in Korean, and the words to sing along to on the screens were frequently misspelled... Not to mention that the backgrounds cycled between slides of animals in nature and the Great Wall of China. Needless to say, it may have been the best night of karaoke IN MY LIIIFE.

and now a break from the winter cold

Minus the reindeer head and the kitty, the beach house girls are heading to much warmer temps for a lovely long weekend! And thanks to some sweet connections, we are doing it pretty cheaply too! Bye bye icy winds, hello sunny beaches... Guess that means we should leave our Christmas turtlenecks at home.

*Important note: The photos are from our silly Christmas newsletter photo shoot from 2005... We don't normally rock super high ponytails and that much fabric on the neck.

feelin blue

I am a tightsaholic! And I have a new found obsession for clothing in the lovely shade of royal blue. Put those together and I am on the hunt for some RB colored tights. So cute!

Just look how versatile they are! Throw these on and I'm ready to go for my next tap dance recital.

consider yourself ignited

In December the band I lead at my church had the opportunity to play this big conference called Ignite in "scenic" Westerville, Ohio. Sadly, despite the name, there were no pyrotechnics. The tech set up was pretty sweet though, and the conference and everything went really well. If Mike was there he would've gotten some awesome pics I'm sure, but I made do with my lil Blackberry during sound check.

i'm going in for the kill

New 2010 music obsession: La Roux.

pumpkin procrastinator

Who wants to carry an old pumpkin all the way to the dumpster? I am hoping it will break down and fertilize the shrubbery...

green is the new blue

Thanks Ciara for the lovely Christmas present!

absolutely horrorable

It's amazing that I've run a regularly updated blog for 10 months and haven't said anything about my love for TERRIBLE HORROR MOVIES. Let me clarify by saying that I do not like actual horror movies, like the ones that come out nowadays (think Saw, Saw II, Saw III, etc). I only like ones that are so ridiculous there is no possible way I could have a nightmare because the blood is obviously corn syrup and the set looks like something an elementary school aged child constructed.

Please read on for a survey of some of my favorites...

The Gingerdead Man (2005)

Gary Busey's ashes get baked into a cookie. Add a few stray drops of blood and he morphs into the deadly Gingerdead Man! And somehow, even though he is cookie-sized, no one can manage to run away fast enough...

The Ice Cream Man (1995)

What do you get when your local ice cream man gets released from the insane asylum? Tasty treats full of blood 'n' guts, duh.

The Gay Bed and Breakfast of Terror (2007)

Um, hands down, best movie title ever. And I wonder what kind of chaos ensues when a homophobic inn owner unwillingly accommodates a group of people in town for a (I promise I'm not making this up) "gay convention"? PEOPLE GET KILLED, that's what happens.

Leprechaun in the Hood (2000)

In the fifth installment of the Leprechaun series, someone has stolen his precious gold (again), someone accidentally conjures up Lep (again), and many Irish-accented rhyming lines are spoken (again). What makes this a standout in the Leprechaun "franchise", is the final moment in the "film"... A little something called "LEP IN THA HOOD COME TO DO NO GOOD". If I could post the vid I would, but promise me you will go watch it NOW.

Coming soon... A more in-depth look at the absolute worst of the worst, Zombie Night!
