happy birthday zooey

It is my little kitty's birthday today! She turns four, so that means we only have about, oh, 12 or so more years of her presence lighting up our lives!

I expect great presents. Perhaps a cardboard box full of sweaters that I can chew holes in?

Btw for blog readers that don't know Karen in person, I wanted to point out that Zooey wasn't named after Zooey Deschanel

yes i can see how there could be confusion since i have had so many zooey deschanel posts lately! zooey the person pronounces her name like Zoe, whereas the cat is pronounced ZOO-ee. she is named after the book franny and zooey by jd salinger. i have no idea how zooey in that book pronounces his name, but it is a boy so i feel like it wouldn't be like zoe. ANYway the end.

Happy Birthday, Zooey! I can't BELIEVE you're four! It's about time for you to get a job and start contributing to the family. :)

Hope you had a great nom-ful day!

Just found you through serial bus and spend a good half hour reading your past blogs. You two are such a cute couple. I love the photographs.

Hm... But according to this page, Zooey Deschanel is also named after the JD Salinger character:
So Zooey the cat and Zooey the actress are both part of the same name-family-tree. It's just that Zooey the cat happens to be the correct gender.

the card made me laugh. aside from letting her at all your computer cords or inside your favorite t-shirt drawer, a cardboard card is probably the best gift she could ever get.
